  • How to Layer Skincare Products

    14 Avril 2014

Count the number of products included in your daily skincare routine. Chances are it’s more than one, so you will need to layer them on one on top of the other. Which product should be applied first? Should you wait for one to completely dry before adding another? Here are some tips for how to layer skincare products.

A general rule of thumb is to start by applying the lightest product first and then gradually layer on the heavier ones. For example, this would mean applying a light, daily moisturizer first and then following up with a thicker sunscreen next. Water-based products are best to be applied first and then should be followed up with oil-based products (such as a face oil).

If you use toner, that ideally should go on first. Toners work to remove all irritants on your skin, so it’s essentially this happens before caking on more layers of product and makeup. After a toner, any medicated products should be applied, such as acne spot treatment. These treatments usually have to work into the skin, so you will need to take time to let them dry on the skin.

Serums and moisturizers go on next. To avoid using too much product, only apply what is needed in small dots. Remember- you can always put more on later. SPF is the last step before your makeup (if you choose to wear any) since it’s so thick.

  • Skincare Tips for Your 30’s

    08 Avril 2014

After you’ve taken care of your skin in your 20’s, your 30’s become more important. Fine lines and subtle wrinkles start to pop up during this decade, so your skincare routine should become more intensive. Here are a few tips to help you improve your skin in your 30’s.

    • Dark circles from less sleep and stressful days can make your eyes appear older and sickly looking, and who wants that?  For dark circles, choose products with vitamin C, soy, kojic acid, which will brighten up the area. For puffiness around your eyes, look for products that contain caffeine. Apply an eye cream nightly for best results.
    • Dullness in your skin may become a problem in your 30’s, so it’s important to continually use sunscreen to prevent this from getting worse. Look for products that contain peptides, whichs help to brighten skin, restore your skin’s elasticity and can reduce fine lines.
    • If you notice brown spots or skin discoloration, begin a more drastic exfoliating routine.
    • Add Shinso Essence product to your skincare regimen to help even the tone and texture of your skin.  Always apply at AM and PM.
  • Skincare Tips for Your 20’s

    01 Avril 2014

Skincare varies not only by your skin type, but also by your age. Women in their 20’s have vastly different skin concerns than those in their 50’s and vice versa. Young women in their 20’s have far less to be concerned about, yet still need to develop a good skincare regimen. Here are some tips for managing skin in your 20’s.

    • Since most women don’t start to show signs of aging until their 30’s or 40’s, anti-aging products aren’t your main concern. However, now is the perfect time to take preventative measures. Since your skin is still supple and has a good amount of collagen, wearing sunscreen is the most important factor. Find a SPF that works for you (there are many different formulas and brands to choose from) and apply it daily.
    • Moisturizing is a simple and effective way to keep your skin looking great in your 20’s. Your skin can absorb it easier, so apply a moisturizer daily to see the full benefits. Your skin 10 or 20 years from now will thank you.
    • Acne and breakouts are still common in your 20’s, so do your best to fight that off. Use a gentle exfoliant once or twice a week to prevent clogged pores that often cause acne. Since acne scars and skin discoloration are two negative consequences of acne in your 20’s, do what you can now to prevent these from showing up later in your life.
  • How to Get Cate Blanchett’s Skin

    11 Février 2014

With the Oscars right around the corner, all eyes are bound to be on the stunning Cate Blanchett. While many at-home viewers will be anticipating what dress she’ll be wearing, I assume it will be hard to take our eyes off her beauty. The 44-year-old Blue Jasmine star has impeccable skin that that’s the envy of those half her age. So what products and routines are behind Blanchett’s milky, smooth complexion?

One of the most important factors to get skin like Blanchett’s is to wear a strong sunscreen daily. Whether it’s winter or summer, protecting your skin is crucial. In previous interviews, she mentioned a favorite of hers is Daylong Sunscreen Lotion- a sunscreen for those with skin that is extremely sensitive to the sun. Staying out of the sun when you can is your best bet to great skin at any age.

Blanchett also appreciates the transforming powers of a good facial. While previously spending time in London, she enjoyed one from a Shinso celebrity facialist. Instead of opting for tons of facial plastic surgery like most of Hollywood, she has received a “natural face lift” by using innovative Shinso skincare products.

Another important factor for beautiful skin is to make sure you drink enough water. Blanchett has said she has started drinking a lot of coconut water and “tends to live on it when I’m on stage”. Staying hydrated does wonders for your skin, but has many other health benefits as well.

To fake a little flush, Blanchett sticks to cheek stains, like this Tarte version. A rosy shade adds just a little color to her fair skin, so it looks believable.

  • Tips for Botox Recovery

    04 Février 2014

The recovery process for any type of surgery is critical, especially those on the face. When having Botox injections, the recovery time is fairly short, and patients can return to work or their regular scheduled activities the same day. If you’re thinking of heading out for Botox injections, here are a few tips to help speed up the recovery process and provide you with the optimal results.

Use the right products. Many of the doctors who carry Shinso Skincare products apply them immediately after Botox injections to help the patient heal quicker (around 70% to 80% faster). After having Botox injections, a patient’s face will be a bit swollen. Shinso Skincare helps to reduce the inflammation in as little as 10 minutes. It’s best to apply these products daily during the recovery process at-home. The anti-aging benefits will help magnify the results of the Botox as well.

Avoid strenuous exercise. As with any procedure, doctors advise to avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours after the injections. Normal activities can be continued that same day, but just be extra careful.

Avoid laying down. Your doctor will probably advise you to not lay down for four to five hours after the treatment. Many patients get Botox done earlier in the day or around lunchtime, which makes this tip easy to follow.

Do not massage or touch the area. Besides applying a product (like I mentioned above), try to avoid touching, massaging or rubbing your face, since this could exaggerate the swelling or produce redness. Slight bruising may occur in some patients, and this would just aggravate the skin more. The last thing you want after having Botox is to draw attention to your face for the wrong reasons!

Remember- every person reacts to these procedures in different ways, so be careful to talk to your doctor beforehand and after.
